It's been some time since we've heard from The Rosebuds, but they are coming back with their sixth album, Sand + Silence. Apparently, the song was recorded in Justin Vernon's studio and he can be heard playing keyboards on the album. They've previously shared the first single, "In My Teeth", and they've now provided us with another sample of their unique style of rock. It's titled "Blue Eyes" and it's awesome. Listen and download it here.
The release of the soundtrack to Zach Braff's new film, Wish I Was Here, is almost here (July 15). In anticipation, NPR is streaming Bon Iver's contribution, "Heavenly Father". Stream the new track here.
When you think of Justin Vernon, you more than likely think of snow, right? Well if you don't, it might be time to start making that connection. Since Justin Vernon both lives in Wisconsin and retreats to cabins on the daily, he more than likely needs a quality of pair of boots with him to handle the snow. Maybe that's why he's being featured in promotional videos for Red Wings Boots. Vernon stars in the first installment of their “Made In the Land of Wheat and Maize” video series. In the video, Vernon goes through his life story, in addition to some very manly activities, like building a fire and fixing a pickup truck. It'd be hard to imagine a man not wanting to buy some Red Wings Boots after this video.
On last night's "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon", the Roots had a special guest musician with them: Bon Iver's Justin Vernon. He performs "Woods" at the 14:45 mark and sings an introduction for David Beckham at the 21:15 mark.
A record that, predicated entirely on isolation, consumes itself in its own world and almost feels invasive to listen to.
